The film’s main protagonist, Johnny played by Sikander Agarwal is a tea boy on the streets of Mumbai, who dreams of having a better life in Dubai. Johnny’s hopes of making it in life are pinned on the fortunes of three people he admires – Parvez, Preeti and Vishal. Neil plays Parvez, a Muslim from Ahmedabad who wants to get rich quick so that he can fulfill his responsibilities and reclaim his love(Shahana Goswami), who is now married to a corrupt cop, (Kay Kay Menon). Preeti (Soha Ali Khan) is a small time model and Vishal (Karan Nath) is her drug addict boy friend.
In last days of Jan, 2010 the film faced controversy when a major chunk of the film was released online in 5-6 parts over the online video sharing website, www.youtube.com. It may be known that the film has bee complete for close to 2 years now and has been doing the rounds of international film festivals and was to be released this year. When asked an official for producers said “We have filed a complaint at the cyber crime police station at the Bandra Kurla cyber crime department and we will file one at Juhu police station. We have also written to youtube.com and asked them to remove the footages as it is the most easily accessible website. We have formally made a complaint to them as well. The complaint at the Juhu Police station is at the second stage of investigation in which the culprit will be booked. However, what has been uploaded is not the finished project and is the older cut of the film.” ‘Tera Kya Hogga Johnny’ has been made for Rs 12-crore. Producer Manu Kumaran said, “I was informed by one of our crew member Pankaj Sharma about this. We have made all the notified complaints and also spoken to all our suppliers who were working on the post-production of the film. However, we are to blame as it is also a system failure from our side. We need to be more careful.”
