The Book Tower is a British television series for children that ran for 11 series from 3 January 1979 to 30 May 1989. Initially presented by Tom Baker,[1] then starring in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who, each episode explored one or more books, using dramatic presentations, with the aim of getting children interested in reading. Later presenters included Stephen Moore, Bernard Bresslaw, Neil Innes[2] and Timmy Mallett.[3] The theme tune, based on Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, was arranged by Andrew Lloyd Webber.[4]
