History

The Fight Network founded by Mike R. Garrow was granted approval for operation by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in January 2004.[1] TFN was issued a licence by the CRTC at a leter date once it had met certain CRTC requiremnets, including at least once distribution agreement with a licensed Canadian distriubter and that is ready to commence operations.[2] TFN was subsequently launched on September 22, 2005 under the ownership of BlackOut Communciations (now known as TFN Global), a company now controlled by Mayhem Media Corp.

International expansion

TFN reached its first international agreement with American IPTV provider, Backspace, to launch TFN on their system in the United States in 2007,[3] although after several months, Backspace removed TFN from their systems.

In keeping with their plans to expand internationally, TFN opened a South American office to continue their planned global expansion in that region.[4] However, as of September 2009, TFN has not commenced operations in Soth America. In 2008, TFN purchased TWC Fight! based in the UK and subsequentily rebranded the network later as The Fight Network UK..,[5] The network was later shut down December 1, 2008.
