The Guardians of Childhood is an upcoming animated comedy film based on the forthcoming books by William Joyce, produced by DreamWorks Animation and due for release on November 4, 2011. The film will feature some of the crew from Watchmen, which was co-produced by Paramount Pictures - who will distribute this film. The film is being described as "a contemporary fairytale based on existing fairytale characters".[1] It will be written by Joyce, the creator of Rolie Polie Olie and Meet the Robinsons as well as a contributor to the underlying ideas behind the film Robots.
The film features five heroes from various childhood stories—Jack Frost (Leonardo DiCaprio), North (aka Santa), Bunnymund the Easter Bunny, Tooth the Tooth Fairy, and Sandy the Sandman—who join together in an adventure to stop Pitch the Boogeyman from sending the world into "eternal darkness".[2]
Rumors of involvement by Natalie Portman, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, or any other cast members at this time have been denied by DreamWorks.[3]
