The Huntsville Times is the daily morning newspaper published in Huntsville, Alabama, and also serves the surrounding areas of north Alabama's Tennessee Valley region. The Times formerly operated as an afternoon paper, but moved to mornings after The Huntsville News ceased publication. It is published by The Huntsville Times Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Advance Publications, Inc. The paper was first acquired by Advance's founder, Samuel Newhouse, Sr., in 1955.[1] The Times is a sister paper to two other Advance-owned publications within Alabama, The Birmingham News and the (Mobile) Press-Register. Together with them, the Times provides daily news and sports content to Advance Internet's website,

Of the 25 daily newspapers published in Alabama, the Times has the third highest daily circulation.[2]

Because Huntsville is the home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the Army's Redstone Arsenal, the Times maintains a special desk for science, aerospace and military matters. It also maintains bureaus in towns near Huntsville, within its service area.[3]

The Times has received numerous awards over the years from the Alabama Press Association and other trade groups.[4]
