The King John School, is a foundation comprehensive school in Benfleet. The main school building was built in 1958, it previously used as a hospital. It has five year groups, year 7-11, and a sixth form, thus having over 1800 students. The school has 11 tutor groups in each year, with 30 pupils in each tutor, with the exception of year 11, where there are 16 tutor groups, with roughly 20 pupils in each. The tutor groups are set in a format, of the year, then the number of the tutor group, for example, 7-02, 8-02, 9-02, 10-02, 11-02.
