The Legends of Vampire Hunter is an one-shot hentai manga created by Kouta Hirano, the author of Hellsing.

Overview

The story takes place in what appears to be a warzone, where the Hellsing Organization's troops have been defeated by vampires. Hellsing's master vampire, Alucard, arrives, searching for survivors, and presumes that Yuri Kate (a female soldier who had enlisted with Hellsing recently) had been captured alive, since she is not among the corpses. Meanwhile, Yuri is being raped by a vampire named Hellman, while his brother looks on. Alucard enters the room and berates the vampires for their conduct, calls them thugs, and kills them. Since Yuri's blood has been sucked, she cannot be human again, but must continue to serve the Hellsing agency as a vampire. (In this version of Hellsing victims do not need to be virgins to become vampires; the factor is instead the amount blood that was drunk).

Connection to Hellsing

In the creation of Hellsing, his most acclaimed work, Kouta Hirano pulled motifs from many of his earlier manga, and many similarities can be noted. The Legends of Vampire Hunter has the most direct parallel to Hellsing, in terms of story and characterization. In the opening of Hellsing, the same Alucard enters a devastated village being taken over by a vampire in time to "rescue" the policewoman Seras Victoria, although he is forced to mortally wound her to stop the vampire. She is then raised as a vampire in the service of Hellsing. Seras wears a uniform similar to that of Yuri Kate and their roles are analogous, Alucard himself is virtually unchanged, except for different weaponry (the stake rifle was replaced with the pistols) and the writing on his cheek (which was later placed on one of Alexander Anderson's gloves). In addition, the vampire Hellman is very similar to the character Jan Valentine, and Hellman's brother appears to be a parallel to Luke Valentine.
