The Real Thing is a song by Bo Bice from his album of the same name. It was written by Marti Frederiksen, who has also written songs for Aerosmith, Pink and Def Leppard, and was co-written by Kara DioGuardi. The album sold 227,000 copies during its first week of release on December 13, 2005, debuting on the Billboard 200 album chart at #4.

Bo Bice used the chorus of The Guitar Man, written by David Gates and originally recorded by rock group Bread, as the basis for the chorus of The Real Thing.

The song appears on the music video game Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol.

Music video

The music video has three main scenes. The first shows Bice on a balcony looking over what appears to be a small unknown city and him singing. In the second scene there is a camera man who takes numerous shots of him while he is walking around the city, singing. Three girls notice him and start to run after him, while at the same time other people take notice too and become interested. In the third scene he is seen performing with his band in front of a big crowd that had been following him. The video alternates between the first, second and third scenes, respectively. At the end of the video it shows the blond-haired girl (who spotted him first) reaching out and touching Bice's hand and both smiling at each other. http://bonafidebice.com/images/realthinglink.jpg
