Tim Gardam is a British journalist and educator. He is the son of the novelist Jane Gardam. He studied at Westminster School and gained a double first in English from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He subsequently worked at the BBC (where he created Timewatch and edited Newsnight), and as director of programmes at Channel 4. He was then appointed by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to lead a review of digital television in Britain.

He is currently Principal of St. Anne's College, Oxford and a Senior Member of student publishing house OSPL. In January 2008, he began a 3 year term on the board of Ofcom[1], the independent regulatory authority for the UK communications industries.
