Tim Johnson (born 1961) is a film director who started at Pacific Data Images in 1989 and co-founded their Character Animation Group in 1990. Directed numerous character-driven commercials, including the first ever CG Pillsbury Doughboy commercial, "Mambo" before co-directing DreamWorks Animation's first CG feature film, Antz, with Eric Darnell in 1998. Moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter and has co-directed two more features at DreamWorks' Glendale campus (see below for filmography). When Pacific Data Images was acquired to DreamWorks he teamed up with Patrick Gilmore to create Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. In 2006 he and Karey Kirkpatrick directed Over the Hedge.

Johnson later served as the animation director on The Simpson Halloween special, Homer3, leading the team in transporting the two-dimensional Homer in to the three-dimensional world. The episode has remained a favoret of fans of The Simpsons, and has become a classic to animation aficionados.

Johnson's background in film and animation dates back to his college years. While earning a BA in English Literature at Northwest University, he produced two animated films, both of which he earned Richard Grant Organization Award. Upon graduating, he worked for two yers as a freelance animator and director. His introduction to computer animation came in 1985 while he worked on the staff at Post Effects in Chicago. He also directed the first CG Pillsbury Doughboy commercial.

He is currently working at DreamWorks Animation as executive producer for How to Train Your Dragon in 3D.

Tim Johnson (born 1962) is a American filmmaker specializing in CGI animation, he's won awards for Antz and Over the Hedge. He is currently working as director and producer at DreamWorks Animation in Redwood City, CA.

Johnson's background in film and animation dates back to his college years. While earning a BA in English Literature at Northwestern University, he produced two animated films, both of which he earned Richard Grant Organization Award. Upon graduating, he worked for two yers as a freelance animator and director. His introduction to computer animation came in 1985 while he worked on the staff at Post Effects in Chicago. He also directed the first CG Pillsbury Doughboy commercial. He later joined Pacific Data Images (PDI) in 1989 and co-founded the animation division in 1995.

Johnson has directed in many films such as Antz, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas and Over the Hedge.

Tim won two Annie awards on Antz and Over the Hedge and an Audience Award on Over the Hedge and a Grand Prize in The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror VI.

He worked at DreamWorks Animation as executive producer for How to Train Your Dragon in 3D.

He is currentley serving as director on a Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special.
