Toromont Industries Ltd. (TSXTIH) is an Industrial Machinery & Equipment Distribution company based in Concord, Ontario, Canada. The company operates through two business segments: The Equipment Group and the Compression Group. The Equipment Group includes one of the world’s largest Caterpillar dealerships in addition to rental operations. The Compression Group specializes in the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of compression systems for natural gas, fuel gas and carbon dioxide in addition to process systems and industrial and recreational refrigeration systems. Both groups also offer product support capabilities. Additionally, Toromont produces and sells business software solutions to Caterpillar Dealerships. Toromont Industries employs approximately 4,400 people in more than 115 locations.

The largest Toromont Cat branch and Toromont Industries executive offices are located at the southwest corner of Jane Street and Highway 7 West in Vaughan. This location is mostly inside the core of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and therefore does not fit at all with the City of Vaughan's new plans for development. The plant is heavy industrial whereas the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre's plans call for small, low-rise office buildings and retail establishments, situated on small city-sized blocks. Toromont is therefore being forced to relocate, possibly somewhere south of Barrie, Ontario, but if that does not work out, likely to Manitoba.[2]

Corporate governance

Current members of the board of directors of Toromont Industries are: Robert M. Ogilvie, Wayne S. Hill, John S. McCallum, Robert M. Franklin, Ronald G. Gage, H. Stanley Marshall, and David A. Galloway.
