Transdev York is one of seven companies within
the Blazefield
Group. Blazefield is owned by Transdev, a large French transport operator
and the sixth largest bus operator in the UK.
History
Formed in Summer 2008, Transdev York comprises the former Top
Line Travel business which includes local school services and the
York City Sightseeing franchise and the local bus operations of Veolia
Transport. Both businesses were based at the same depot in
Fulford near York, where the combined Transdev York operation is
now operated from. This new operation further expands Transdev
Blazefield's operations in the York area which include Yorkshire
Coastliner's Leeds to Coast services and Harrogate & District's
Harrogate Service. Buses are also available for hire for various
events.

City
Sightseeing
York Tour Buses are operated by Transdev York under the City
Sightseeing brand. The service offers hop on / hop off service
with a number of stops across the historic city. Most buses have a
pre-recorded CD commentary, however there is at least one bus per
hour that uses a multilingual commentary via headphones, including
a specialist children's commentary some buses carry a live guide in
the summer season. There are two routes in the summer; Route A and
Route B (though Route A is the only one that is running at
present), each offer a clockwise circuit of the city with Route B
serving the racecourse and Holiday Inn. Most buses are partially and
fully open top, with three low floor vehicles recently introduced.
City Sightseeing tours run all year round (except December 24-26
and January 1).

Fleet
News
- The Top Line Travel yellow/blue MCW Metrobuses, including the 105-seater,
were stored at Blackburn
after Transdev took over. These have now been sold.
- Not all of the Veolia vehicles were retained, a number of
single and double deck vehicles have left the fleet.
- Many buses are now gaining new LED rear tail lights.
Liveries
The company operates buses in two different liveries. Local bus
services are operated in a red livery with Transdev branding and the York CitySightseeing
livery which is red with illustrations of York landmarks and white
Yorkshire roses. A number of vehicles entered the fleet in blue Yorkshire
Coastliner livery in Spring 2009.
Fares
As well as Single and Return Fares, a number of fare saver
tickets are available, such as Day Rovers, Ten Journey Tickets and
"YO Zone", a half fare card for York residents aged 11–16. These
exclude the City Sightseeing and the Raceday Shuttle services.
Although the Day Rovers are invalid on the CitySightseeing
buses, the CitySightseeing tickets can be used up to the limits of
the city on all Transdev York service buses and Yorkshire
Coastliner services.
