Tsunashima Station (綱島駅 -eki) is a stop on the Tōkyū Tōyoko Line which is a major Japanese rail line from Shibuya, Tokyo to Yokohama.

History

The station opened as one of the original Tōyoko Line stations on February 14, 1926, under the name Tsunashima-Onsen Station (綱島温泉駅 -eki). It was renamed on October 20, 1944, elevated in November 1963 and refurbished in 2001, with a new North entrance, see-through ticket gates at the main entrance, and new escalators and elevators.

The typical weekday hourly off-peak service is:

  • 12 trains to Shibuya, of which:
    • 4 are Express (Hiyoshi, Musashi-Kosugi, Tamagawa, Den-en-chōfu, Jiyūgaoka, Gakugeidaigaku, Naka-Meguro, Shibuya)
    • 8 are Local (Most of these are overtaken by faster trains at Jiyūgaoka)
  • 2 Local trains to Kita-Senju on the Hibiya Line (passengers can take other trains to Naka-Meguro and change there)
  • 4 Express trains to Motomachi-Chūkagai on the Minatomirai Line (Kikuna, Yokohama, Minatomirai, then all stations)
  • 10 Local trains to Kikuna, of which:
    • 8 continue to Motomachi-Chūkagai (most of these are overtaken by faster trains at Kikuna)
