USA WEEKEND Magazine is a national publication distributed through more than 600 newspapers in the United States. It reaches 49 million [1] readers in 23 million households [2] every weekend. Awarded for its journalism and design, USA WEEKEND focuses on social issues, entertainment, health, food and travel. The magazine provides Newspaper In Education classroom guides to partner newspapers. Its website,, provides enhanced content and interactive magazine features. USA WEEKEND is published by Gannett Co., Inc., an international news and information company.

The publication incorporates Family Weekly, a supplement started in 1953, but considers 1985, the date of Gannett's purchase and re-titling, to be the date of its founding for anniversary purposes. [3]

USA WEEKEND’s Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October. Created by the magazine in 1992, it soon grew into the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations and everyday Americans into action on one day. Each year, 3 million people participate worldwide, helping millions more.
