Uale "Vala" Mai (born July 20, 1978) is a Samoan sevens player.


He is the captain of the team and also their top try and points scorer in the IRB World Sevens Series. He is the only Samoan to have received a nomination for the International Rugby Board Awards. He won the IRB International Sevens Player of the Year award in 2006 on November 26 in Glasgow's historic Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Britain. He added to this by being named Hong Kong 7's Player of the Tournament in 2007. He is an exciting talent who is comfortable at Fly Half and Scrum Half at 15 a side. In 2008 he was the Samoan Senior Player of the Year and was nominated again for the IRB International Sevens Player of the Year. Uale is represented by the MC Sports Agency and is hoping to play in Europe for the 2009 - 2010 season.
