Tre Stokes (Nick Cannon) is a 23-year old undercover cop and goes to Westbury High to figure out the death of a student. He becomes friends with Rob Donovan (Shawn Ashmore) and soon figures out that he has been stealing the cars at parties. Near the end, it is revealed that the principal of the school had been blackmailing Donovan, and was ringmaster of the crimes. After being kicked off the force by his father-figure police chief, Tre solves the case (with the help from Donovan) and is reinstated.
Underclassman received negative reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, only 8% of the critics gave it positive write-ups.
There is a scene where Tre stops someone he thinks is a drug dealer, but later finds out he's also an undercover cop, and by busting him, he foils his attempt to find out who the drug dealers' suppliers are (this is an almost word for word replica of a scene from Point Break). In fact, the similarities between this film and Point Break are varied and numerous. This movie was similar to hit Indian movie Main Hoon Na which is released in 2004 almost one year before "Underclassman". Hence, it can be understood that the makers of "Underclassman" got their scenes from "Main Hoon Na".
