| Gold | Ahmed Al Maktoum | Shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics |
Ahmed Al Maktoum won the UAE's first ever Olympic medal, a gold, with a dominant performance in the Double Trap, three days after falling one shot short of a chance for a medal in the Trap. Al Maktoum shot three rounds of 48 in qualifying to beat Russell Mark's Olympic record of 143 set in Sydney, and took a six-point lead into the final, where he again shot the best round and equaled another Olympic record, this time Mark's from Atlanta.
