From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VMGL(formerly Xen-GL) allows virtual machines to run openGL apps. The guest O/S uses VMGL, which transmits the request to the host O/S, which in turn makes openGL calls to the actual video card.

Using WineD3D, windows guests can translate Direct3D calls to openGL which in turn allows you to play video games inside a virtual machine.
