Visakha Valley School or better knows as VVS is located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It runs under the CBSE system of education with teaching from LKG to XII in English medium. Cdr. Almaida, with the support and encouragement of the then District Collector, started a school on the outskirts of the city, beyond the dairy farm and called it the 'Visakha Valley School'. When he retired, Cdr.P.A.Moses was selected for the Principal's post, He took over in January '71 and continued till April '77. By then, it became a full-fledged school offering C.B.S.E. syllabus and became one of the premier educational institutions of the city.

The foundation of the school was laid in 1968, by the then district collector of Visakhapatnam Shri Abid Hussain. It was started by The Visakha Educational Society under Societies Registration Act. The School is located in a valley overlooking the sea, with a sprawling campus of 33 acres. It is one of the biggest campus for a school in vizag. Admissions are given on the basis of an entrance exam which is conducted on the last Sunday of every March. The School has been getting good results in both curricular and extra-curricular activities. The chairman of the school is the District Collector, currently Shri Sanjay Kumar. The present principal of the school is Smt. Sharada Reddy, and Vice Principal is Mrs Anuprasanna. The school has four houses-Edison, Babha, Newton and Raman. The school dress is silver grey shirt and navy blue trousers/skirt. It celebrates all kinds of important days like telugu day,Sanskrit day,air force day etc.It also has a school magazine titled Madalasa.It recently set up a programme namely S.Y.A short for schol year abroad where foreigners interact with Indian students and learn their tradition and culture.The school students have to host them for about a period of 3 months.It is really a great school and ranks as one of the top schools of andhra pradesh.some of the school's students have become the toppers of the C.B.S.E xii board exams 2009.Prathik Jaiswal was the topper in both maths and science.

It recently set up a programme namely S.Y.A short for school year abroad where foreigners interact with Indian students and learn their tradition and culture. The school students have to host them for about a period of 3 months. Some students have become the toppers of the C.B.S.E. Anirudh Bansal was among the top three all over India in XII board examinations in 2009. Prathik Jaiswal was the topper in both maths and science. It has a strong alumni base working in some of the world's best companies and who have further got into India's top undergraduate colleges (such as IITs, BITS, SRCC, JIPMER, etc.) and postgraduate colleges (being IIMs, MIT, Johns Hopkins, etc.).The present principal of the school is Dr.(Smt.)Sarada Reddy.

Environment

The school is surrounded by a vast valley. Close to Visakha Valley School is the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) College. The Kuchipudi Kalaksetra is also close to Visakha Valley. There is a large playing ground for students on campus, unparalleled anywhere in the city. The environment is very conducive to learning, far from the usual hustle and bustle of the Visakhapatnam city.
