WBMQ is a news/talk formatted radio station located in Savannah, Georgia.

History

Originally known as WSAV-AM, the station operated 250 Watts fulltime on 1340, then jumped to 5,000 Watts day and night on 630, when the NARBA shift took effect.

Station was formerly known as WKBX (1977-85) which went from top-40 to religious to country before changing to WBMQ and playing oldies. Prior to WKBX, AM 630 was known as WSAV and was sold to Beasley Broadcasting Group which changed the call letters.

WKBX and WSGF (now WIXV) moved to the WSAV radio transmitter on Oatland Island in 1977. The station is currently owned by Cumulus Broadcasting which also owns WZAT-FM Z102, WIXV-FM I-95, WEAS-FM E 93, and WSSS-AM 900 The Ticket. All of the stations broadcast from studios on Television Circle in Savannah.
