WELW is an AM radio station licensed to Willoughby, Ohio and, while technically part of the Cleveland, Ohio radio market, its main area of service is Lake County and Eastern Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

It operates on 1330 kHz. Many of the local talk programs also are streamed and archived at welw.com.

WELW offers a variety of programming, including national talk radio programs such as The Radio Factor and Duke and the Doctor, to many locally produced programs, including Lake Effect Radio. Its tag line is "The Talk of the Town."

Other programming features polka music and other nationality shows, including Slovenian, Croatian, Italian, German, Polish and Hispanic.

WELW broadcasts many area high school football and basketball games, and some local college games, as well as local sports talk shows. WELW has been the flagship station of the Lake County Captains minor league baseball team since their inception in 2003.

With the realization that many polka fans from Ohio and the steel belt have retired to warmer climates, WELW also began and serves as base operation for a 24/7 streaming polka website, 247polkaheaven.com, which was the first of its kind in the world. Known as the "World's Polka Network", it features polka hosts and music from across the USA and Canada.

WELW offers a small part of its broadcast schedule for purchase by program providers.

HISTORY: WELW first broadcast on January 27, 1965, with its first format being Religious. Subsequently, it has had Top 40, Country, Oldies Music, and Talk formats. WELW almost always has broadcast nationality music shows, and some religious programs. The current ownership (Spirit Brooadcasting, a Petkovsek-Somich Company) began in February 1990, and this has been the longest ownership in station history. Over the years, it has been honored countless times for its community service, as well as receiving Associated Press awards.
