The station was assigned the call letters WRLM on 1993-05-28. On 1993-09-01, the station changed its call sign to WISQ then on 1996-06-14 to the current WKCH.[2]
In the 90s initially simmulcasted sister station WFAW until 1999 it began running oldies music without imaging. It finally became "Kool FM K-106" by the end of 1999 later its current "Cool 106.5"
