The station went on the air as WZZB on 1990-02-01. On 1991-05-24, the station changed its call sign to DWZZB but was changed to WQKC.[4]
WQKC changed its sports radio format to classic hits on November 20, 2008, after changing call letters to WLCL. The station's former AM simulcast outlet, WQKC 1450 AM, continues in the sports format as the Louisville market's ESPN Radio affiliate.
