WOWW (1430 AM) is a Radio Disney affiliate radio station serving the Memphis, Tennessee, market. WOWW broadcasts on 1430 kHz. The station is one of the few Radio Disney stations not owned by the Walt Disney Company.

History

During the 1960s the station was known as WHER and had an all female on-air staff, hence the call letters (W)HER. It later became WWEE featuring an all-talk format. The station gave birth to the longest running sports talk show "SportsLine" (now called "SportsTime"). "SportsLine" went on the air in 1972.[citation needed]

Notable former staff members include Marge Thrasher, Bill Thomas, George Lapides, Dick Palmer, Jim Fields, and Jeff Weinberger.[citation needed]
