WXUR (92.7 FM, "92.7 The Drive") is a radio station broadcasting a Active Rock format. Licensed to Herkimer, New York, USA, the station serves Utica, NY. The station is currently owned by Arjuna Broadcasting Corp. and features programing from Westwood One.

History

WXUR was first assigned the call sign WYUT-FM on March 2, 1986. On July 20, 1994 the station changed their call sign to the current WXUR.[1] The station most recently broadcast a Classic hits format until June 26, 2009, when the format was changed to Active Rock. The station retained its branding as "The Drive" through the format change. Before the format change, the morning drive had been filled with Imus in the Morning while local host Bill Keeler hosted afternoons. After the change Keeler was moved to morning drive with Imus moving to sister station WNRS AM 1420. Jack Moran continues doing middays, and former WRCK (Rock 107) morning host Frank McBride is brought aboard to do afternoon drive and Justin Cortese is behind the mic from 7 to midnight.
