Overview and history

The Western Provident Association was founded in 1901 by a group of workers who got together and put their wages into a fund that covered the cost of their health care. Over a century later and the fund has become WPA. Based in Somerset, WPA provides cover for individuals and companies alike. WPA was voted 29th in the 100 Best Companies To Work For, in 2005 by The Sunday Times.

Provident status

As a Provident Association WPA does not have shareholders, which means they cannot obtain funding from the stockmarket and must rely on their own profits for funding or take out loans.
