From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Western Railway Elevated Corridor is an elevated Churchgate-Virar suburban rail corridor on the Western Railway (WR) for air-conditioned EMUs (Electrical Multiple Units). It was proposed by Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav in the 2007 railway budget.[1] It will consist of a two-track elevated corridor running above the existing Western Railway line between the stations of Churchgate and Virar.[2]

The techno-feasibility report of the project was submitted by Technical consultants RITES, a public enterprise, and French firm Systra.
