"What a Job" is a single from Devin the Dude's album Waitin' to Inhale. The song features Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000. Devin's verse focuses mainly on smoking marijuana and drinking in the studio while trying to make music. Snoop's verse makes note of his longevity in music, his contributions, and overall influence in hip-hop. Andre 3000's deals with listeners illegally downloading tracks and fan appreciation. Andre 3000 gained much respect for his mainstream-featured verses on this song and DJ Unk's "Walk it out." The overall theme of the track are the difficulties of working in the music industry, despite what most people view as an easy job filled with girls and partying. The chorus is all about working long nights cooped up in the studio while one's "baby mother" is at home wondering where her man is. In a small spoken verse at the end of the song, Snoop Dogg points out that he has to please a large both a large public audience and his family, and if one doesn't make hot music, "It don't mean shit." The song peaked at 124 on the Bubbling Under R&B\Hip-Hop Singles Chart in 2007.
