Encyclopedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wide Receiver is a 1981 funk/dance song by Michael Henderson. The song was from the album Wide Receiver which is now out of print. However, an album titled The Best of Michael Henderson made up for the discontinuation of that album.

Michael Henderson mostly did smooth R&B; this song was his only club dance track.

Song theme

The song contains innuendos in the form of football references. It also has a few references to marijuana. Sounds from Mattel's electronic football toy were employed as special effects for the song.

The phrase "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't" from Mounds and Almond Joy advertising were said a few times in the lyrics.
