Women in Love is a 1969 British film directed by Ken Russell which tells the story of the relationships between men and women during the early part of the 20th century.[1][citation needed] It stars Alan Bates as Birkin, Oliver Reed as Gerald, Glenda Jackson as Gudrun and Jennie Linden as Ursula. The movie was adapted by Larry Kramer from the novel of the same name by D. H. Lawrence.[2]

Glenda Jackson won the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was the first actress to win the award for a role which had a nude scene.[citation needed] The movie was nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
