Ylitornio (Northern Sami: Badje-Duortnus, Swedish: Övertorneå) is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Lapland at the shore of the Torne River, opposite to Övertorneå. The municipality has a population of 4,809 (31 December 2009)[2] and covers an area of 2,212.64 square kilometres (854.31 sq mi) of which 183.61 km2 (70.89 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 2.37 inhabitants per square kilometre (6.1 /sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
