The Zuidplaspolder is a polder in the Netherlands, containing the deepest point of western Europe. Close to the city of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, it reaches a depth of 6.75 meter under the mean sea level at the Dutch coast (officially under the Normaal Amsterdams Peil, which is close to the mean sea level) [1].
